Wellness Trends I Actually Live By (and Why They Might Work for You Too)

Wellness trends are everywhere, and not all of them are worth your time (or your money). But some? They’ve genuinely changed the way I feel in my body, my mood, and my everyday energy.

As someone who’s personally navigated gut issues, hormone imbalances, and stress, I’ve learned what actually works and what just looks good on Instagram.

So, here are 8 wellness trends I actually live by. They’re accessible, backed by science, and most importantly they’ve made a real difference in my health and happiness.

Morning Light Before Screens

One of the simplest but most powerful shifts I’ve made is stepping outside within 30 minutes of waking even if it’s just for 5 minutes. Morning sunlight helps regulate your circadian rhythm, supports melatonin production at night, and balances cortisol which plays a major role in hormone health.

Cold Plunge & Sauna (a.k.a. Contrast Therapy)

This trend is having a moment and I get why. I started doing sauna and cold plunge this year, and I immediately felt the mental benefits: clarity, calm, and confidence.

The science: Cold exposure can activate brown fat, reduce inflammation, and increase dopamine. Sauna use supports detoxification, improves circulation, and boosts cardiovascular health. For women, it’s also helpful for managing stress and improving PMS symptoms when used mindfully.

Gut-Loving Habits (No Fad Diets Here)

Instead of obsessing over food rules, I focus on gut-loving habits: chewing slowly, eating in calm environments, fermented foods like sauerkraut, and making sure I poo daily (yep, we’re going there).

Why it matters: Your gut influences everything from hormone regulation to mood to immunity. And no, you don’t need expensive powders to support it. Start with how you eat, not just what you eat.

Nervous System Regulation

This one is huge. Breathwork, gentle movement, laughter, sunshine, connection they all count. Regulating your nervous system supports digestion, hormone production, and resilience.

My go-to: Box breathing before meals or when I feel wired but tired. It’s subtle but so powerful.

Prioritising Sleep Like It’s a Supplement

Sleep is the foundation. I’ve made it a non-negotiable. I avoid caffeine after 11am, keep my bedroom cool and dark, and use a face mask and mouth tape.

Fun fact: REM and deep sleep are when your body does most of its hormonal repair and detox work.

Living by the 80/20 Rule

Perfection isn’t wellness. Living 80% intentionally, and leaving room for joy, flexibility, and fun has been one of the best “wellness hacks” I’ve ever adopted.

Why it’s important: All-or-nothing thinking stresses the body. Flexibility is a skill that helps your nervous system feel safe and that safety translates to better digestion, more balanced hormones, and a healthier mindset overall.

Walking

We forget that walking is a wellness tool. It aids digestion, lowers cortisol, boosts creativity, and supports lymphatic flow (great for hormone health). I walk everyday, and more recently I’ve taken a liking to no phone, no podcast, just fresh air.

Bonus: If you walk after dinnner, it’s also the perfect time to mentally process the day and feel gratitude, which can help lower stress hormones.

Intentional Rest & Doing Nothing

This might be the most rebellious trend yet: unapologetic rest. Not scrolling. Not multitasking. Just doing nothing.

Science-backed reason: Downtime lets your brain enter the default mode network where creativity, memory consolidation, and emotional processing happen. It’s not lazy. It’s literally essential.

Wellness Doesn’t Have to Be Extreme

If there’s one thing I want you to take from this list, it’s that wellness isn’t about overhauling your life or spending a fortune. It’s about coming back to your body. Listening. Supporting your systems in small, daily ways.

And the best part of these trends? They’re practices that help you feel grounded, clear, and connected. Which, let’s be honest, is what most of us are really chasing anyway.

Which of these trends are you already living and which one do you want to try next? Let me know in the comments or DM me on Instagram!

With love and balance, my Friends x
